Randomized trial validates the Turkish version of HANA for migraine assessment, highlighting its reliability and validity.
Objectives This study aimed to cross-culturally adapt and validate the Turkish version of the 7-item Headache Needs Assessment (HANA) survey in individuals with migraine. Methods Structural validity was evaluated using Exploratory (EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) in 79 participants. Reliability was assessed via Cronbach’s α, Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC), and Bland-Altman plots. Convergent validity was analyzed by correlating HANA with the Headache Disability Inventory (HDI), Headache Impact Test-6 (HIT-6), Visual Analog Scale (VAS), and Migraine Disability Assessment (MIDAS).Results EFA revealed a two-factor structure for HANA A (explaining 68.81% of variance) and a single-factor structure for HANA B, confirmed by acceptable CFA indices. Cronbach’s α exceeded 0.879 and ICC ranged from 0.784 to 0.836, indicating excellent reliability. HANA correlated moderately-to-strongly with HDI (p = .000; r = 0.622) and HIT-6 (p = .000; r = 0.481), but weakly with VAS (p = .000; r = 0.389) and MIDAS (p = .068; r = 0.206).Conclusion The Turkish HANA possesses robust psychometric properties for clinical and research use.Clinical Trials Number NCT06675279.
