Good listening to the speaker and the perception of being listened to well by a partner improve the listener’s and speaker’s psychological and physical well-being. There is a pressing need for a validated and reliable instrument to assess good listening schemas within the Iranian population. The present study evaluated the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Rogerian Schema of the Good Listener Questionnaire among Iranian married samples. Following translation and a pilot study, 1,058 participants were recruited via convenience sampling. Exploratory analyses reveal a three-factor structure, with cross-validation confirming adequate construct validity for both three-factor and second-order models. Reliability coefficients (Cronbach’s α and McDonald’s ω) and validity indices (AVE > .50) were acceptable. However, slopes > 4 for some items indicate local dependence, and Analysis via graded response model (GRM) revealed category overlap in the 11-point scale. These findings affirm the questionnaire’s utility as a robust tool for measuring listening schemas in Iranian marital contexts.
