This paper introduces the artificial intelligence (AI) interactive experience (AI-IE) among consumers. This concept was measured using Chinese and English versions of an AI-IE scale. Three studies, involving 12 questionnaire surveys administered to 3,300 respondents (3,000 from Taiwan and 300 from New York), were conducted. In Study 1, an AI-IE scale with 14 items across the following 4 dimensions was developed: AI intimacy and understanding, AI enjoyability and involvement, AI autonomy, and AI–Internet of Things capability. The reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity of this scale were verified. In Study 2, the cross-linguistic applicability of the scale was tested. Scores on the Chinese and English versions of the developed AI-IE scale were significant and positive predictors of the intention to continue using AI. In Study 3, the applicability of the AI-IE scale was verified across multiple devices (namely, personal assistants, sweeping robots, service chatbots, and AI generative chatbots).
