This paper presents the results of a quantitative study examining the significance of key factors in the acceptance and use of BIM technology within the UTAUT2 framework. Based on a sample of 71 professionals in the Slovak construction sector, the study presents its findings on expert estimates of the significance of specific factors affecting the acceptance and use of BIM. The study also examines the mediating effects proposed in the UTAUT2. To provide a holistic understanding of the acceptance and use of technology, new endogenous factors were examined: trust in the technology and the perceived potential of BIM technology to support sustainable construction. The empirical findings suggest that performance expectations are the primary drivers of the acceptance of BIM while perceived effort, social influence, and facilitating conditions play supporting but important roles in shaping its adoption and use in the Slovak construction sector. The findings also confirmed the significant impact of the size of a company and the region on the UTAUT model's basic factors. The UTAUT2 model was tested using Cronbach’s alpha.
