Media analysis examines transgender representation in Koza, suggesting improvements in inclusion and social dialogue.
This study examines the representation of transgender women in the Turkish web series Koza from the perspectives of media studies and human rights. Using qualitative content analysis, the research explores how the series challenges stereotypical portrayals and presents transgender women as multidimensional individuals with identities, emotions, aspirations, and everyday experiences. The findings indicate that Koza contributes to more authentic and inclusive media representation while promoting discussions on equality, diversity, and social inclusion. Furthermore, the study argues that independent digital media can play a significant role in amplifying marginalized voices and supporting human rights through audiovisual storytelling. By analyzing Koza as a case study, this research contributes to the growing literature on transgender representation, digital media, and human rights in contemporary Türkiye.
