Salvianolic acid B (Sal B), isolated from Danshen, exhibits efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging capacity and protects keratinocytes against ultraviolet‐induced lethal cell damage, which shows immense potential in preventing and treating skin photodamage. However, Sal B is chemically unstable and has low bioavailability, which limits its application in topical skin treatment. Therefore, we constructed Sal B liposomes loaded hydrogel (SL‐Gel) that enhanced its stability and accumulation in the epidermis. The integrated liposome‐hydrogel system overcomes several limitations of single‐strategy delivery systems, including poor stability and potential skin irritation. Results demonstrated that SL‐Gel behaved with excellent biocompatibility and effective inhibition on photo‐induced cellular damage in vitro. Furthermore, SL‐Gel showed no irritation, while exhibiting significant antioxidant effect and promoting skin recovery on the UVB induced skin photodamage. Therefore, SL‐Gel hydrogel with good biocompatibility and Sal B stabilization offers a promising strategy in the prevention and treatment of skin photodamage.
