In order to achieve digital transformation and boost global competitiveness for EU, it is important to consider 5G networks along with their successor, 6G networks. These network technologies provide us with an infrastructure of service areas that facilitate the connection of several EU systems and other critical infrastructures. Furthermore, they focus primarily on security, privacy, and trust. For securing these networks, it is needed: (i) high-quality technical solutions, and (ii) operational collaboration between all stakeholders. This paper presents a model-driven framework for risk and impact assessment in 5G systems, developed within the context of the SAND5G initiative. This solution is named Security Assessments for Networks anD Services in 5G (SAND5G) and it is able to cover both of the aforementioned needs. It is the product of a research project that is financially supported by Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL). It replies to the call of Cybersecurity and Trust (DIGITAL-ECCC-2022-CYBER-03). Its goal is to build a platform that performs risk assessment. The outcomes of this platform are needed for: (i) securing these systems of 5G stakeholders, (ii) supervising security measures by national authorities, and (iii) being compatible with 5G cybersecurity policies and specific toolboxes provided by Europe.
