This study examines the role of AI tools in advancing key objectives of higher education in Saudi Arabia, including enhancing student engagement, improving academic performance, and fostering retention. Utilizing a quantitative method with 317 teachers and 320 students selected using stratified random sampling from higher education institutions across Saudi Arabia. Data was collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed the data employing SPSS software. The findings reveal that faculty and students view AI as a powerful tool for teaching, learning, personal development, and assessment, aligning with institutional goals. The study emphasizes that there is a significant positive correlation between AI adoption and improved student engagement (β = 0.35, p < 0.001), academic performance (β = 0.25, p < 0.01), and retention rates (β = 0.15, p = < 0.001). This research contributes to the growing body of literature on AI in education by providing a context-specific analysis within Saudi Arabia.
