Singles party: A compound with a SiISiI bond was prepared by the reduction of amidinatotrichlorosilane with potassium graphite. There is no multiple-bond character in the SiSi bond, and the X-ray structural analysis (see picture) shows that this bis(silylene) possesses a gauche-bent geometry.
