In this Letter, we present a 200 G C-band self-coherent PON based on dual-polarization (DP) carrier-extracted self-coherent (CESC) detection. Applying a narrowband silicon photonic (SiP) coupled resonator optical waveguide (CROW) filter, a pure carrier can be extracted from the received signal to beat with the DP self-coherent signal, realizing a coherent-like detection without local oscillators. Conveying a 223.2-Gbps DP-QPSK signal with an SOA pre-amplification in the downstream transmission, the self-coherent PON can realize a 33-dB loss budget over 20-km SSMF under 1 × 10 −2 BER threshold. As a cost-effective and performant scheme, DP-CESC detection-based self-coherent PON is promising for the next-generation PON beyond 100 G.
