Investigates CO2 capture and fuel production using a novel reactor system, indicating a sustainable approach.
The growing urgency to mitigate industrial CO 2 emissions and reduce reliance on fossil fuels has driven interest in innovative systems that integrate carbon capture with sustainable fuel production. This study investigates a novel 3‐reactor chemical looping system for CO 2 capture from flue gas and subsequent biomass and natural gas utilization for producing liquid fuels using Aspen Plus. The system uniquely integrates carbon capture with biomass or natural gas utilization by a carbonator, reducer, and combustor assembly. Sensitivity analysis is conducted to optimize the individual reactor and overall energy management. Using calcium ferrite Ca 2 Fe 2 O 5 and Fe 2 O 3 as the oxygen carrier (OC), the overall system achieves over 60% carbon capture efficiency and generates high‐purity syngas ∼80%, which is converted to liquid fuels via Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis. Additionally, autothermal operation is achieved through the strategic blending of Ca 2 Fe 2 O 5 with Fe 2 O 3 , ensuring energy self‐sufficiency. This work highlights the transformative potential of coupling biomass utilization with integrated carbon capture and conversion (ICCC) technologies, offering a scalable and carbon‐negative pathway for sustainable fuel production and climate change mitigation.
