Diagnostic keys are given for 24 genera, 158 species, and 3 subspecies of trombiculid larvae from continental North America, including Mexico. Original references are given for all forms and groups included. New genera are: Sasacarus, type Chatia furmaniHoffmann, and Hoffmannina, type Novotrombicula suriana Hoffmann. New synonymy is given under three species, and several cases of suspected synonymy are also discussed.
