Ni-Fe layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are promising oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrocatalysts in alkaline electrolytes. In their Communication on page 172 ff., X. W. Lou et al. report a facile self-templated strategy for the synthesis of hierarchical hollow nanoprisms composed of ultrathin Ni-Fe LDH nanosheets. These hollow prisms with large surface areas display high electrocatalytic activity towards the OER, with a low overpotential, a small Tafel slope, and remarkable stability.
