Aggregation-Induced Emission (AIE) is a luminescent phenomenon where molecules that are non-fluorescent or weakly fluorescent in solution emit more light upon aggregation. These molecules, termed AIE luminogens (AIEgens), are valued for their high luminescence and resistance to quenching. Their application in dermatology, including skin infections, tumors, and inflammatory diseases, is an area of growing interest and research. This overview will discuss the current and potential future uses of AIEgens in dermatology.
