Abstract Fibre‐reinforced polymers (FRP) have found increased application in bridge and building construction in recent years. This is predominantly due to the advantageous properties of these materials, such as low self‐weight, high strength, free formability and substantial resistance to corrosion and fatigue. The development of FRP materials for use in new hybrid and all‐composite bridge and building construction from 1997 to the end of 2000 is described in this review.
