Candida Infections: Clinical Features, Diagnosis and Treatment

Each year, fungal infections affect more than one billion people worldwide, with more than 1.6 million deaths. Candidiasis accounts for 75 to 88% of these infections, and despite therapeutic advances, their incidence continues to increase with increasing mortality. The clinical spectrum of candidiasis extends from superficial diseases such as cutaneous, nail, digestive, and genital candidiasis, to systemic diseases such as candidemia.
