High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide Fluorescent perovskite γ-phase CsPbI 3 nanocrystals were synthesized at room temperature in open air. Cs–oleate is combined with a molecular complex of PbI 2 and trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) in nonpolar solvents, hexane and octane. The reaction reached completion in 2 min. The nanocrystals are stabilized by in situ ligand exchange with a zwitterionic capping ligand, lecithin, and have an average diameter of 40 nm with a faceted, rhombicuboctahedral shape. They exhibit bright photoluminescence (PL) peaked at 700 nm with quantum yields of 70% and are colloidally stable, retaining their perovskite phase for more than 6 months. This room-temperature, open-air synthesis should prove useful for producing significant quantities of stable and fluorescent CsPbI 3 nanocrystals for a variety of applications.
