Demonstrates strain-induced anisotropy tuning in double perovskite films, indicating strong magnetoelastic effects.
Magnetic anisotropy is often tuned through various approaches, including chemical substitution, shape engineering, defect manipulation, and strain. Here, we demonstrate the strain-mediated control of magnetic in room-temperature ferromagnetic Ca 2 FeMoO 6 . In particular, the anisotropy constant (Ku) is tuned from -30 kJ/m 3 (in-plane) to 180 kJ/m 3 (out-of-plane) via substrate-driven tensile strain (0.9%) in thin films. We argue that the negative value of magnetostriction promotes out-of-plane anisotropy through magnetoelastic coupling in Ca 2 FeMoO 6 films. In addition, the experimental results are well supported by micromagnetic simulations. Our results show that even modest tensile strain is sufficient to induce easy-axis reorientation in double perovskite Ca 2 FeMoO 6 through strong magnetoelastic coupling.
