Analytic classification reveals reflectionless kinks in scalar models, suggesting new families of potentials.
We present a complete analytic classification of topological kinks with a reflectionless stability operator in the scalar field theory described by the equation \(Fᵤᵥ=H(F)\). The problem is reduced to the spectral theory of the Schrodinger operator and the classical Bargmann theorem on reflectionless potentials. It is shown that a kink is reflectionless if and only if its stability potential \(U(ξ)=V''(ψ(ξ))\) is an \(n\)-soliton potential of the Korteweg--de Vries hierarchy with the ground state at zero energy. All such potentials form a continuous family parametrized by the number \(n≥ 1\) of bound states (including the zero mode), the internal mode frequencies, and the normalization constants. For every choice of these spectral data we explicitly construct the field potential \(V(ψ)\) and the function \(H(F)\), thereby obtaining an infinite family of previously unknown reflectionless kink-bearing models. The classical \(φ^4\) and sine‑Gordon models are recovered as the special cases \(n=2\) and \(n=1\), respectively, while \(n≥ 3\) yields new potentials given in parametric form. We also exhibit a continuous family of deformations of \(φ^4\) arising from two‑soliton Bargmann potentials. These models form a two‑parameter family determined by the internal mode frequency and a normalisation constant; a convenient one‑parameter subfamily is exhibited. The proof is self‑contained, fully detailed, and does not rely on the integrability of the original field equation.
