The tin-containing product of the reaction of stannous fluoride solutions with synthetic hydroxyapatite was studied by means of X-ray diffraction. Data were collected from a single crystal specimen and this compound was identified as Sn 3 PO 4 F 3 . The crystals are rhombohedral and are unrelated to the parent hydroxyapatite.
