Weapon carrying and brandishing among youth remains a serious public health issue. In a previous commentary, I expressed concerns about gaps in recent literature on the subject, particularly among manuscripts that engaged General Strain Theory as a sole theoretical framework. I argued that these manuscripts overemphasized individual-level analyses and neglected root causes and systemic injustice. This essay responds to a critique of that original commentary, coauthored by Timothy Brezina and Robert Agnew.
