Randomized trial examines the effects of parent coaching on family dynamics, suggesting positive outcomes for families in Nepal.
This study examines the implementation of parent coaching for families of children with behavioral challenges in Nepal. A research team conducted interviews and focus group discussions with parents, caregivers, and social workers to understand how parent coaching impacts family functioning. The coaching program provided practical strategies, emotional support, and culturally sensitive guidance to parents, helping them manage their child’s behavior, improve communication, and reduce stress at home. Findings suggest that parent coaching strengthens families by empowering parents as the main agents of change, improving family relationships, and supporting children’s emotional and behavioral development. Future programs should focus on ongoing support, coordination with schools and community organizations, and access to resources to sustain improvements in family functioning.
