Bibliometric analysis explores active aging and social work outputs, highlighting research disparities and proposing a framework for future studies.
This study analyzes scientific output at the intersection of active aging and social work using bibliometric methods, based on 1,833 records from WoS, Scopus, and PubMed (2000-2026). The field has grown at a 19.5% CAGR, yet exhibits marked geographical, methodological, and disciplinary asymmetries. The USA, UK, and China dominate output, while the Global South remains peripheral. Thematic clusters reveal social participation and successful aging as the conceptual core, with co-production and health inequalities emerging as rising themes. Gerontological social work concepts cluster at the network periphery, indicating a structural visibility problem. This study renders this gap measurable and proposes a framework for future research and educational policy reform.
