A study of the additive coloration of MgF2 single crystals has been made. It is possible to introduce F aggregate centers by this method and to destroy these aggregates by radiation to produce an optical absorption band at 265 nm which has been attributed to F centers. A comparison of additive coloration of MgF2 and CaF2 indicates that CaF2 colors more readily.
