Key result
Cuffless blood pressure measurement technologies have been developed as compact wearable monitors and software products for periodic and continuous monitoring in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Why the study?
Cuffless blood pressure measurement devices developed over the past decade could increase public awareness of arterial hypertension at its earliest stages.
What are the main directions and available technologies for cuffless blood pressure measurement?
What are the main directions and available technologies for cuffless blood pressure measurement?
A broad and heterogeneous group of cuffless blood pressure monitors is now available, offering potential for increased public awareness and continuous monitoring of arterial hypertension.
Several devices developed in the previous decade allow blood pressure (BP) to be measured without using classical brachial cuffs. The availability and ease of cuffless BP measurement in everyday life could increase public awareness of arterial hypertension in its earliest stages. Objective. Analyze the main directions in developing technologies for the cuffless measurement of blood pressure levels. Materials and methods. An analysis was conducted of articles published from 2008 to August 2024, available in electronic citation databases, on cuffless BP measurement methods using the keywords: “cuffless blood pressure measurement methods”. Results. Several developments have been implemented in the form of compact wearable BP monitors and software products available for cuffless BP measurement. Conclusion. A broad and heterogeneous group of monitors has been presented, which can be used in both inpatient and outpatient settings for cuffless measurement and periodic and continuous monitoring of blood BP levels.
