A sporopollinical analysis of the eemian « peats » of Saint-Paul-lez-Durance shows a sub-mediterranean vegetation in which the more representative element is the deciduous oak-grove. Pinus halepensis is the only well represented element of the eu-mediterranean flora. Quercus ilex is very scarce. The existence of Platanus is attested by the presence of some pollen grains. The vegetation indicates a climate wetter than the actual but with quite similar temperatures. In the upper part of the diagram the presence of Abies denotes a slight cooling of the climate. A comparison is made with the macrofloras of the Meyrargues tuffs at the top of the eemian series ; the latter reveals a more clearly mediterranean vegetation.
