This study explores the design and impact of a teaching program that combines action research and service-learning, focusing on its potential to enhance individual learning performance and social engagement behaviors. This study focuses on sophomore students and involves pre-/post-test of learning performance. A total of 37 valid responses were collected. The analysis results indicate that (a) students’ willingness-to-learn, learning performance and personal responsibility are significantly higher after instruction compared to the beginning of the course. (b) Meanwhile, the students’ character identification is significantly higher after the instruction. (c) However, there is no significant difference in social responsibility, which may be explained by social expectation theory.
