In the last decades, the occurrence of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), biologically active molecules in the aquatic environment was considered as an emerging problem affecting the biocenosis and human health. In the present study, Nano-composites (NCs) consisting of polyaniline (PANI) and ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) were synthetized for the photodegradation of diclofenac (DCF) under solar light. The synthetized composites were characterized by different techniques, including XRD, ATR-FTIR, SEM-EDS, UV-DRS, and N2 adsorption isotherms. The photocatalytic activity of PANI/ZnO under sunlight was evaluated for different “PANI-to-ZnO” ratios. The photodegradation of DCF exhibited the highest efficiency with PANI/ZnO (20%), achieving 66.3% abatement after 4 h. under solar irradiation and reaching 61.1% within the first 2 h.
