Biblio-systematic review maps resilience trends in L2 teachers, suggesting necessary support and training strategies.
The aim of this study is to create a biblio-systematic review that maps trends in research concerning resilience of L2 teachers. Considering L2 teaching as rather demanding, fair and effective, the review summarizes literature published 24 articles between 2017 to 2024 on resilience of L2 teachers. Incorporating data from Web of Science and Scopus databases, the bibliometric methodology was used to map relevant prominent authors, influential articles, key themes such as positive psychology, well-being, coping strategies with special regard to COVID-19 challenges. Results indicate that resilience contains multi-facets, including personal attributes, professional skills, and situational aspects, and increases the teaching enjoyment and stress management thus avoiding teacher burnout. The research emphasizes how important it is to include trainings for resilience and emotion regulation throughout professional career and how institutions need to develop supporting policies to improve teacher well-being. By mapping current research, it sheds light to educators and policymakers on how to support L2 teachers in dealing with encumbering professionals' challenges.
