Explores performance of MXene solar absorber for enhanced solar energy capture, suggesting applications in renewable mining.
There are multiple options available to utilized renewable energy, but among them, using solar thermal absorbers is a significant choice for solar radiation to generate heat. In this paper, an MXene-based Goblet-Ring-shaped Resonator Metamaterial Solar Absorber (MGRMSA) is investigated with the Finite Element Method (FEM). MXene and TiN are used as the resonator and ground material of the absorber. The hybrid multipolar resonator coupling made possible by the goblet-ring arrangement assures polarization-insensitive and broadband absorption properties. This MGRMSA achieved above 95% absorptivity within the 200 to 3500 nm spectral range. 2450 and 770 nm bandwidth of the ultra-broadband is captured by the polarization-insensitive MGRMSA. For performance enhancement, Neural Network Regression (NNR) was used for absorptivity prediction and achieved R 2 = 0.98009. This novel-shaped MGRMSA is used for renewable mining applications.
