Study engages student partnerships in general education assessment, suggesting improved practices and outcomes.
This article responds to the ACCELERATE: Assessment Principles for Best Practice (Bheda et al., 2025) by examining how an institution applies the Collaborative and Co-Creative principle in the Students Partnership in General Education Assessment Initiative that helps transform the value of General Education and create opportunities for improvement and innovation. Building on a value co-creation conceptual framework in the context of collaboration, this study presents the design of the Initiative and the impacts on both institutional and student learning. The Initiative not only enriches the quality of assessment but also supports continuous improvement and innovation in General Education practices. The study demonstrates the need to shift from compliance-focused assessment toward methods that truly involve students by showcasing the “how to” of implementing collaboration and co-creation in student partnerships in General Education assessment.
