Theoretical analysis reveals the tensions between Torah priesthood and Melchizedekian kingship, implying a need for priestly redefinition.
The Torah establishes altar and incense priestly service as an explicit, hereditary Aaronicordinance. Tanakh just as explicitly introduces a future priest-king of a different order(Melchizedek/Branch), bound to the Davidic throne. The consequence is unavoidable: if the Tanakhfigure is truly priest in an operative sense, he cannot be installed within Torah’s Aaronic gatekeepingwithout a Torah-level change in priestly parameters. The language of Hebrews 7–8 is therefore not afree Christian system-statement, but the logical outcome of a Tanakh tension already defined by Torah.
