Reports genetic diversity and phylogenetic relationships in Potentilla discolor, indicating its potential pharmaceutical applications.
Potentilla discolor is a medicinal perennial in Rosaceae with notable pharmacological activities, yet its genetic diversity remains underexplored. Here, we report the first complete chloroplast genome of this species, assembled from next-generation sequencing data. The 156,332bp genome exhibits a typical quadripartite structure and contains 126 genes, including 81 protein-coding, 8 rRNA, and 37 tRNA genes, with an overall GC content of 36.86%. Phylogenetic analysis strongly supports (100% bootstrap) its close affinity with two P. chinensis varieties. This chloroplast genome provides a valuable genomic resource for future investigations into genetic variation, biological traits, and pharmaceutical applications of this species.
