Scoping review maps GLP-1 and dual GIP receptor agonists for idiopathic intracranial hypertension treatment, suggesting new therapeutic avenues.
Study Design: Scoping review. Objectives: To map and synthesize the evidence regarding glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) and dual glucagon-like peptide-1 and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor agonists (GLP-1/GIP RAs) in the treatment of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH). Methods: Quantitative articles, clinical studies addressing the concept of GLP-1 RAs and GLP-1/GIP RAs in IIH patients will be included. The search strategies will be applied to the Cochrane Library, Embase, MEDLINE, LILACS, Scopus, Web of Science Core Collection, and LIVIVO. Additionally, sources of gray literature will be searched. We will also look for studies using platforms and artificial intelligence tools, platforms of register of preprints and register of trials protocols. The studies will be selected by four authors, accordingly to the eligibility criteria.
