Carbon‐13 direct‐detection NMR is becoming increasingly used to complement 1 H‐detected experiments in biomolecular applications. Here we describe the novel aspects that were addressed to convert 13 C direct‐detection into a useful routinely applicable tool, a selection of the most useful 13 C direct‐detection protonless NMR experiments and how they can be exploited for the study of proteins.
