The study demonstrates the formation of hierarchical helicates using complex ligands, highlighting new synthetic possibilities.
1,2‐Dihydroxyanthraquinone, 6,7‐dihydroxyisobenzofuranone, and 7,8‐dihydroxyquinolinone derivatives are fused aromatics with a catechol and a neighboring carbonyl unit (ketone, ester, amide). Those compounds act as complex ligands and form hierarchical helicates Li[Li 3 Ti 2 ( L ) 6 ]. Due to the geometric fixation of the carbonyl unit, for the first time the hierarchical helicates can be obtained even with amide moieties as carbonyl.
