In this article I pursue various goals. I revisit my work in Religion, Gender and Race in Western Europe by engaging with the responses of five scholars who were invited by JRE to review it. As such, I am raising ethical issues as well as concerns about relevant empirical topics to explore further in the study of religion, gender, and race in Europe. These include interfaith relations, parenthood and childhood, class, and rurality. In the second part I reflect on the context in which the book was written and published. In doing this, I explore recent transformations of white secular / Christian Europe, with a focus on developments in the Netherlands.
