This exploratory paper reveals how COVID-19 impacted emerging adults, suggesting ways to support them in this new normal.
COVID-19 was a major historical influence on human development worldwide, which interrupted normative development. In this paper we explored how COVID-19 shaped emerging adults at the time of the pandemic. Then we reviewed research on how emerging adults during COVID were affected with respect to their physical, cognitive, psychological, and social development. Limitations and future research directions were given followed by challenges and opportunities. Implications of the findings were discussed, including recommendations for those who interact with emerging adults to support emerging adults amidst this new normal.
