Sleeve gastrectomy improves LV characteristics in post-MI heart failure rats by attenuating Trpc6 and Tgfb1 expression.
Why the study?
Does sleeve gastrectomy improve structural and functional myocardium characteristics and alter gene expression in rats with post-infarction heart failure?
Does sleeve gastrectomy improve structural and functional myocardium characteristics and alter gene expression in rats with post-infarction heart failure?
Sleeve gastrectomy may reduce the negative effects of post-infarction cardiac remodeling by attenuating Trpc6 and Tgfb1 gene expression in a rat model.

Hypothesis-generating for sleeve gastrectomy in post-MI HF; extends Trpc6/Tgfb1 data but leaves clinical translation open.
A positive effect of sleeve gastrectomy on the structural and functional characteristics of the left ventricular myocardium in rats with normal body weight and post-infarction CHF was demonstrated. Sleeve gastrectomy attenuated the upregulated myocardial expression of the Trpc6 and Tgfb1 genes involved in the pathogenesis of myocardial infarction. These findings attest to a reduction of the negative effects of post-infarction cardiac remodeling.

Pan et al. (2026) studied Post-infarction heart failure. Sleeve gastrectomy was evaluated on Structural and functional characteristics of the left ventricular myocardium and gene expression. Sleeve gastrectomy attenuated upregulated myocardial expression of Trpc6 and Tgfb1 genes and improved left ventricular myocardium characteristics in rats with post-infarction heart failure.
