Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycosis caused by dimorphic fungi in the genus Sporothrix. The lymphocutaneous form is the classic type of the disease(1) . Agents in Sporothrix are present in plant debris and in soil throughout the world, particularly in the Americas, East Asia, and South Africa, but are uncommon in Europe, and it is uncertain if European cases are autochthonous or imported (Zhang et al. 2014, unpublished data).
