Explores pathological heterogeneity in Alzheimer disease using P-tau217 in Caribbean Hispanic individuals, suggesting new insights into diagnosis.
Plasma-based phosphorylated tau 217 (P-tau217) has been increasingly used to identify Alzheimer disease (AD). However, discrepancies between P-tau217 levels and clinical diagnosis have been commonly seen, supporting a need to explore other pathologic pathways underlying the clinical symptoms. Furthermore, data are scarce in Caribbean Hispanic individuals. We aimed to use plasma P-tau217 and other biomarkers with AD to explore the pathologic heterogeneity within the clinical syndrome groups among individuals of Dominican ancestry from a community-based study.
