Case report shows effective management of multidrug-resistant tuberculous meningitis in children, suggesting shorter treatment may be feasible.
Multidrug-resistant tuberculous meningitis is the most severe form of childhood tuberculosis and is usually treated for 18-24 months. We describe a pediatric case successfully managed with a 12-month regimen, shortened due to severe neuropathic toxicity. Infliximab controlled steroid-dependent paradoxical reactions. This case supports shorter, all-oral regimens incorporating newer agents in selected patients.
