Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) is a common complication of Diabetes Mellitus characterized by delayed wound healing and increased risk of infection and amputation. In Ayurveda, DFU can be correlated with Dushta Vrana1,2 due to its chronic and non-healing nature. Acharya Sushruta has described various treatment modalities for the management of Vrana. In the present case study, a patient diagnosed with diabetic foot ulcer was treated with Jalaukavacharana (leech therapy) and local application of Jatyadi Taila. The treatment was continued with regular wound assessment and appropriate diabetic management. Marked improvement was observed in pain, discharge, inflammation, ulcer size, and granulation tissue formation. The combined use of Jalaukavacharana and Jatyadi Taila demonstrated encouraging results in wound healing. This case suggests that Ayurvedic interventions may serve as a safe and cost-effective approach in the management of chronicdiabetic foot ulcers.
