This paper describes a therapeutic intervention with a family in extreme distress. This group of families has been known as 'difficult for treatment,' 'unsuitable for treatment,' or 'resisting clients.' However, during the last thirty years, some attempts have been made in order to work with these families. The current paper describes a therapeutic intervention with one family in extreme distress that took part in a project concerned with this population. The project integrated the effective elements that were found in previous experiences into a model of intervention. The description of the process is followed by further analysis renarding the implementation of therapy with families in extreme distress.
