This study was commissioned by Alberta Economic Development and Trade to fully research the real and perceived barriers facing Albertan women in business relative to those of men in business. The research included a comprehensive literature review of barriers facing female entrepreneurs. This was followed by a survey of female entrepreneurs, using a male control group. The most important finding of this study is that, contrary to much of the current literature, barriers to female entrepreneurship in Alberta do not seem to be directly gender-related.
