White phosphor converted LEDs are attracting the global market rapidly with its cheapest price, longer useful lifetime with promising light output, and most importantly, it is more energy efficient than the old-era conventional lighting technologies. A combo of blue light emitting semiconductor and yellow phosphor, generates high brightness white light. But at high temperature above 100°C, the junction temperature significantly increased, which decreases the light output. This paper focuses on design and simulation of the semiconductor part such that, the junction temperature is minimised, while using white pcLEDs at such high temperature ambient. In this paper, the high temperature tolerance point, and sustainability aspects of phosphor coating also discussed. The proposed structures show that a white pcLED can be used in 100°C to 223°C with very less junction temperature of 31°C to 41°C. This is a simulation-based study which is carried out in Silvaco ATLAS-Device Simulation Software V 4.3.0.R.
