A single solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) with a (LSGM) electrolyte thick with as fuel gave peak power density at . With a (LDC) buffer layer thick between the electrolyte and the two electrodes, a test showed essentially no degradation of the output power. The tests demonstrated the feasibility of an SOFC operating at temperatures with LSGM as the electrolyte. Moreover, an LSGM electrolyte thick with LDC buffer layers on either side offers a convenient test bed for the exploration of new electrode materials.
