The new cobalt substituted-polyoxometalate K 7 [CoAlW 11 O 39 ]·15H 2 O and the simple CoCl 2 ·6H 2 O salt are efficient catalysts for peroxynitrite decomposition. These compounds also catalyze the oxidation of ascorbic acid and the nitration of phenol by peroxynitrite.
