The glycerol ether content of bovine milk was investigated during the major part of the lactation. Goat, pig, and sheep colostrum and milk were also analyzed for their glycerol ether content. Colostrum of all four species is richer in glycerol ethers than milk. This is especially pronounced for the cow. Bovine colostrum contained 5 to 20 times more than milk. The increase in glycerol ether seems to be located mainly in the neutral fat fraction. Chain length of colostrum and milk glycerol ethers also differ.
