This investigation has shown that even in very small dosages the herbicide 2,4,5-T affects the early oogenesis and causes chromosome disturbances, which may result in sterility in Drosophila melanogaster. The adult flies themselves can apparently live unaffected on higher dosages than those recommended in practice for application, for example to scrubs. Different Drosophila test-methods are discussed.
